The M4 Sherman was the most used medium tank by the Allies during World War II. They were reliable and cheap to make. They were also the base of a few other AFVs. The Sherman was named after American Civil War General William T. Sherman. The M4 is a more advanced version of the M3. These tanks led to tons of offensives for the Allies after 1942. Many different Tank Destroyers have been built using the chassis design from the M4. The average M4 Sherman weighs about 84,000 lbs(38.1 tonnes). The main gun was a 75mm with 104 rounds. The secondary gun was a .50 caliber Browning MG. It could reach speeds up to 30mph.
